ETA stands for the Extreme Technology Analytics Research Group.
Extreme represents both using extreme point methods and the willingness to approach things unconventionally.
Technology - as engineers, we are often focused on the hard technology, but this also makes connection with production technology and the economics approaches often used by the research team.
Analytics speaks to both the growing field of data analytics and a method used for many of our studies.
The ETA Research Group is led by Dr. Tim Anderson, of the Engineering and Technology Management Department at Portland State University.
Why is there a Hearing tab? Recently, Dr. Anderson has been sharing his experiences in dealing with single-sided-deafness applying his ETA background in various ways. The Hearing tab provides resources and information that may be of helpful to those experiencing hearing loss. This effort has led to various ETA related activities and I wanted to make this available for people from both ETA community and the hearing loss community.
Why is the domain, tfdea.com? One of the major research efforts of the ETA Research Group has been the development and application of a technique called Technology Forecasting Using Data Envelopment Analysis. I registered the domain early on. It is difficult to find good, short domain names, so we are sticking with it. Perhaps think of it as Technology Frontiers in Data, Engineering, & Analytics.
